Hotels
Hotels are selected for a variety of reasons, which will vary according to the tour. However, they will be ideally located and well managed. When you travel, you can rest assured we have done all our homework and when we describe our holidays as ‘Escorted Tours’, we mean just that: we are with you all the way — and back!
Our hotels
Hotels in some less developed destinations may suffer from occasional water or electricity shortages. The hotels will do their best to maintain a full service, but a lack of rain and/or bad weather can further aggravate any problems. Especially in the tropics or in countryside locations, hotels may also have insects in the rooms — this is a fact of life and not indicative of poor cleanliness. Please also bear in mind that the service in hotels located in small villages or provincial towns may be slower than in city-centre locations which may also cater to international businessmen and conventions. Please note that bathrooms in North America tend to have a shallow, short tub with a shower above. Rooms in city-centre hotels may be smaller and not have good views. Many hotels may offer free tea/coffee-making facilities in the rooms but may only provide a coffee percolator for heating up water. Hotels may charge for the use of some leisure facilities such as saunas, gyms, tennis or watersports. Rooms are normally allocated on a “run of the house” basis and may be located in any part of the hotel. During off-peak periods hotels may curtail the facilities offered to guests or take the opportunity to upgrade or perform vital maintenance — if we are advised of this in advance we will do our best to let you know before departure.
Hotel incidentals
You are responsible for covering the costs of any hotel ‘incidentals’ such as telephone calls, room service and other hotel facilities. Before leaving each hotel, please ensure that you have checked with the front desk for any personal charges that may have been made to your account.
